The MC20 Cielo announces its sporting vocation and its particularity: MC is the abbreviation of Maserati Corse, 20 refers to 2020, the year that marked the beginning of the brand's new era, and Cielo ("sky" in Italian) underlines the fact that it is a model devoted to the pleasure of driving in the open air, while maintaining the fundamental characteristics of a true supercar.

The new spyder is a 100% made in Italy model: it was developed at the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena, and is produced in the historic factory in Viale Ciro Menotti, just like the coupe.

A succession for the 8C?

In addition to the upcoming arrival of this spyder, it is whispered behind the scenes that Alfa Romeo could well take advantage of the MC20 to relaunch one of its iconic models, or even two if it did so for the coupe and convertible versions, namely the 8C .

After all, wasn't the latter built on a Maserati Granturismo base?

The fact is that Alfa Romeo is on the brink and Carlos Tavares has already warned that if the recently launched Tonale is not a success, the brand will close shop.

However, producing a supercar in a limited series (and therefore generating higher profit margins) could be a lifeline for the Milanese manufacturer.

Especially since the previous 8C had been a great success.
