China News Service, Songyuan, May 15 (Gao Longan) Walking along the ridge, Liu Shuang felt a little sore in his legs and rested a little on the agricultural machinery.

The paddy field in front of him had just been turned over, and the smell of new mud filled the fertile fields. Liu Shuang was looking forward to a year's harvest.

Liu Shuang, 45, is a farmer in Qianguo County, Songyuan City, Jilin Province. He was disabled due to a leg injury when he was a child.

When he became an adult, he went to work in other places, went through a business, and returned to his hometown to grow rice and raise crabs with the first pot of money he earned. He also helped many disabled people find employment.

Liu Shuang said that "rice-crab symbiosis" can achieve multiple benefits. Crabs can feed on weeds and pests in paddy fields, and their excrement can increase the content of soil organic matter in the ploughing layer and promote the growth of rice.

Qianguo County has Songhua River in the east and Chagan Lake in the west. The terrain is flat and the water system is abundant. It is a good place to grow rice and raise crabs.

In 2018, Liu Shuang contracted thousands of acres of land to explore the "rice-crab symbiosis", and was confidently preparing for a big fight.

However, due to lack of experience and immature technology, Liu Shuang lost 300,000 yuan in the first year.

But he believes that advanced agricultural technology can bring about changes in agricultural production. He invited agricultural experts to make a profit of more than 400,000 yuan a year later by continuously testing and improving the technology.

In 2019, the Songyuan New Professional Farmers Association was established, and Liu Shuang was elected as the president.

In July last year, he was named a senior agricultural technician and an outstanding talent for rural revitalization in Jilin Province.

He said that because he had been in the rain, he always wanted to hold an umbrella for others.

When working every year, he will set up positions for the disabled, including not only ordinary agricultural workers, but also various positions such as agricultural machinery maintenance technicians and graphic designers.

This year, the new crown pneumonia epidemic and the "cold spring" occurred successively in Jilin Province. Fortunately, these did not affect the production process.

Liu Shuang rearranged the timetable, "Now that all conditions are ready, in a few days, as soon as the temperature rises, we can plant rice, and then we can release crabs."

This year, Liu Shuang plans to plant 1,300 mu of rice, and is expected to put in 35,000 catties of crab seedlings.

His button crab seedlings are in demand.

"Farmers from Huadian, Jiaohe, Jiutai, Dunhua and other places all come to me to order crab seedlings." Liu Shuang said that in autumn, selling rice and adult crabs is another big income.

"It's only 6 kilometers away from the city of Songyuan, and it only takes ten minutes to drive, and the crabs are transported back to keep them alive." After September every year, there is an endless stream of aquatic product merchants and citizens who come to Liushuang to buy crabs.

"In the past few days, I have been communicating with the Disabled Persons' Federation and other departments, and I want to set up an e-commerce team through online job fairs." Liu Shuang said that in the past few years, he has actively tried e-commerce sales and established several e-commerce brands. partnership.

This year, we will continue to expand the team, firstly to expand online sales, and secondly to enable more disabled people to find employment.
