The collaboration between Mercedes-AMG and the American musician will.i.am, founder among others of the band The Black Eyed Peas, has grown considerably since its launch in September 2021. It now culminates in an extraordinary project launched on May 5, 2022 in Miami and at www.will.i.am.
Under the seal of the strictest confidentiality, “The Flip” was created.
This unique vehicle, dubbed WILL.I.AMG, symbolizes Mercedes-AMG and will.i.am's goals to advance new ideas, push boundaries and dare to achieve the impossible.
All activities surrounding this one-of-a-kind vehicle based on the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, influenced by design cues from the G-Class and the legendary SLS Gullwing, will benefit the i.am/Angel Foundation of i.am.
The objective of this foundation is to establish a pool of talent in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, to lift families and communities out of poverty.
Mercedes-AMG supports this project with all the more enthusiasm because it fits with an all-consuming passion of will.i.am: he is an inveterate car fan and a Mercedes-AMG enthusiast.
The world premiere of "The Flip" took place during the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in Miami, in the presence of renowned guests such as Lewis Hamilton.
The conversion and construction of this extraordinary car was captured in a 6-part documentary, 'DRIVE', which will premiere at Cannes during the 2022 film festival (out of competition).
