Emirates NBD launched the sixth edition of its annual Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance Report, previously known as the Sustainability Report.

The report details the Group's performance at the environmental, social and governance levels, and its achievements in 2021, and was prepared in accordance with the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative, and in line with the vision of the UAE and the sustainable development goals approved by the United Nations.

The report presented the social initiatives of the Emirates NBD group, where Emirates NBD includes a diverse team of 9825 full-time employees, from 78 nationalities, and the percentage of women in the total human cadres in the Emirates NBD group is 41%. The bank is committed to increasing the proportion of women in the group’s senior management to 25% by 2027, while providing flexibility to full-time employees by offering flexible working hours and longer paternity leave, featuring “Exchanger”, the award-winning internal volunteering program from Emirates NBD. , 902 volunteers from the bank’s employees, and the value of Emirates NBD contributions to social initiatives is estimated at more than 64 million dirhams

The Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance Report focused on responsible financing and investment in terms of adherence to the United Nations principles of responsible investment, and the structuring and management of the AED 949 million Masdar Green Real Estate Investment Fund, the first fund in the UAE that specializes only in investing in sustainable real estate assets.

Emirates NBD Capital also led 24 sustainable debt and loan capital markets transactions worth AED 69 million during 2021.

The report also focused on environmental initiatives, which included reducing water consumption by 22%, and achieving savings in energy consumption during 2021 at a rate of 12%, equivalent to costs of 3.7 million dirhams.

Four of the bank's branches in the UAE have been awarded the gold rating in "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design".
