• Calviño energy threatens to withdraw the fuel bonus if the operators absorb it in the price

The fuel industry does not understand the statements made by the Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation,

Margarita Robles

, who accused the sector of absorbing the 20-cent bonus imposed by the Government in the price.

In her intervention in RNE, Robles assured that she would knock down the reduction if this were to occur, although she did not specify whether they had detected illicit conduct on the part of the companies.

Sources from the sector assure EL MUNDO that the application of this discount does not maintain any correlation with the volatile context of the international market and, therefore, they assure that

the rises in the monoliths attend to the critical situation that the gas stations have been going through since the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine

.

"The prices are what they are and the bonus is applied. That the Government subsidizes 20 cents does not affect the international market," they assert.

This week, oil has once again set records close to all-time highs in its price.

In addition, the situation that the exchange rates are going through also harms them since these must be executed in dollars and not in euros.

To make matters worse, the biodiesel with which they operate does not escape inflation either and marks figures well above the usual average.

"We understand the Government's frustration because fuels are expensive, but they have to look the other way. The price of oil and biodiesel is skyrocketing. The policies that should be applied may not be those of subsidy, but of a 'renewal plan' so that less is consumed or aid so that people take public transport", indicates

Manuel Santiago

, CEO of Petroprix.

The measure came into force on April 1 and has not been without controversy since then.

The gas stations denounced at the beginning of last month that the Government did not comply with the term in which they guaranteed the payment of the advances, reducing the reserves of the companies.

The different employers have also transmitted since the norm entered into force their disagreement with the amounts contemplated in the advance granted by the Executive, since this barely covered 60% of the month in the small and medium-sized service station, a situation that worsened on the big platforms, where this injection of liquidity ran out in a week.

Regarding a possible extension of the measure, the sources consulted by EL MUNDO maintain, in the same way that they have done since the Royal Decree was published, that there are many possibilities that it will continue during the summer period.
