“The package of sanctions prepared in Brussels calls for a ban on the supply of crude oil from Russia to Europe in a fairly short time, in the case of Hungary, by the end of next year,” he said in a video message.

Szijjarto stressed that the Hungarian government cannot take such a step, as this will cause irreparable damage to the country's energy security.

Earlier, German Economy Minister Robert Habek admitted that the introduction of an embargo on Russian oil by the EU could lead to higher prices. 

According to him, the transitional period for abandoning oil will be 180 days.
