China News Service, Nanchang, May 3rd, title: Jiangxi men's design of bamboo products sells well overseas: let Chinese bamboo go to the world

  Reporter Wu Pengquan

"I hope to design more products and let Chinese bamboo go to the world." The 36-year-old Xiao Qiang was full of pride when he saw that the bamboo products he designed were selling well overseas.

Xiao Qiang is a design engineer of a bamboo and wood company in Tonggu County, Jiangxi Province. In April this year, he was awarded the "National May 1st Labor Medal" by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions.

He majored in CNC technology and application in university. In 2006, he engaged in CNC programming in a sports goods company in Shenzhen. In 2010, he returned to his hometown to join the bamboo and wood company as a technician.

After changing jobs, Xiao Qiang was unable to start with bamboo products for a while, but he loved to study and continued to study, and fully mastered the structural design, production technology and production skills of bamboo products, and had outstanding skills in CNC machining and structural design of bamboo products.

In 2012, in order to make the booth more bright during the exhibition, the above-mentioned bamboo and wood company decided to make the world's largest bamboo keyboard.

"The difficulty in designing and processing the largest bamboo keyboard lies in the limitations of the equipment. The keys of the bamboo keyboard have to be proportionally enlarged, so the entire circuit scheme has to be redesigned and can only be made by himself." Xiao Qiang recalled in an interview with a reporter from China News Agency recently. , at that time, large parts were split and assembled by "stacking wood".

In 2013, a bamboo computer keyboard with a length of 2.01 meters, a width of 0.69 meters and a thickness of 0.15 meters, developed in Tonggu County, Jiangxi Province, won the Guinness World Records certificate and was known as "the world's largest bamboo keyboard".

Tonggu County, the "gateway to the west of Jiangxi", is a county with a large bamboo resource in China. The development and utilization of bamboo resource is a rich industry that drives local forest farmers to increase their income.

However, the production process of bamboo products is relatively high, and it needs to go through more than 40 processes such as hot pressing of bamboo modification, flat-lamination pressing of bamboo plates, engraving by engraving machine, painting and assembling of conductive film.

Through the "grafting" of traditional industries and high-tech, Xiao Qiang has successively designed and developed bamboo keyboards, bamboo mice, bamboo calculators and other 10 series of more than 80 varieties of bamboo products, which are sold well in Europe, the United States, South Korea, Turkey, 26 countries and regions including Canada.

"The company's sales are about 50% domestically and 50% abroad." In his view, bamboo products are environmentally friendly, delicate, practical, easy to handle and easy to degrade, so they are very popular among overseas consumers. "This year's 'May Day' , the company has also received overseas orders from Russia, Europe and North America.”

The series of bamboo products designed and developed by Xiao Qiang have also broadened the channels of deep processing in the bamboo industry.

According to reports, a bamboo worth more than ten yuan has undergone intensive processing, and the added value can reach up to 1,600 yuan.

"Ordinary bamboo has low added value, and its application in life is relatively limited, mainly agricultural tools and daily necessities." Xiao Qiang believes that after intensive processing, not only the application has become wider, but bamboo has also become "higher". "For example, , From simple folding computer desks to keyboards, mice, calculators, and speakers, the technical content has become higher, and the added value has increased."

According to statistics, the technical team led by Xiao Qiang has applied for more than 60 patents, 10 invention patents, 23 utility model patents, 28 design patents and 2 international patents have been granted by the state.

This "May 1st" holiday, the bamboo and wood industry company where Xiao Qiang works is stepping up to complete orders at home and abroad.

Although due to the impact of the new crown epidemic, there are problems such as low logistics efficiency in product exports, but Xiao Qiang firmly believes that "everything will be fine".
