This carnival event integrates art exhibitions, cultural and creative markets, intangible cultural heritage experience stores, multiple theme concerts, and creative hand-made classes.

Luchao·Gulangyu Academy of Fine Arts, formerly known as the Gulangyu Campus of Xiamen Academy of Arts and Crafts of Fuzhou University, took four years to upgrade and transform into a cultural and art park.
The spiral staircase, sculpture patio and 100-meter runway hidden in the high-value park have become Internet celebrity shooting spots for tourists to check in.
Art exhibitions and creative markets make the park more interesting and hot.
Lin Lin, head of Luchao·Gulangyu Academy of Fine Arts, said that through this series of activities, Xiamen citizens can return to Gulangyu and experience the beauty of Gulangyu, an island of music, art and a world heritage site.
The Island Play Carnival is the first large-scale event after the park opened. It was launched in the form of "exchange a ferry ticket and return to the island" and an art exhibition. It cooperated with online and offline interactive tickets to attract citizens to participate.

Citizens were pleasantly surprised by the upgraded Luchao·Gulangyu Academy of Fine Arts.
Zhu Jin, general manager of Xiamen Yangzhen Culture and Art, said that there will be two experience classes here every month. He hopes that through this form of regular courses, more young people will come to Gulangyu and like the local culture.
2022 marks the fifth anniversary of the successful application of Gulangyu to the World Heritage List.
Under the guidance of the People's Government of Siming District of Xiamen and the Gulangyu Management Committee, the "Island Return Plan" is hosted by Luchao·Gulangyu Academy of Fine Arts, and is jointly organized by Xiamen Ferry, Xiamen SM and other institutions, and will continue to carry out online interaction. Various activities are carried out throughout the year to attract more tourists to the island in the form of communication, pre-heating of art exhibitions in Xiamen's core business district and Gulangyu Island Fun Carnival.
According to statistics, in the three days before the "May Day" holiday (April 30 to May 2), the number of people visiting Gulangyu Island has reached nearly 50,000.
In order to help the cultural tourism market pick up, the Gulangyu Management Committee has introduced preferential measures in many aspects, such as ticket discounts, consumption subsidies, rent reductions, and cultural benefits for the people.
Starting from "May 1st", Gulangyu has resumed the normalization of high-level special concerts, monthly cultural performances for the benefit of the people, outdoor music pop-ups and art exhibitions and other activities, enriching the quality of Gulangyu's historical international community with dynamic culture and art.
