Pfizer Pharmaceuticals reports 61% increase in profit

The American drug company, Pfizer, announced today, Tuesday, that its profit increased by 61% during the first quarter of the year, on an annual basis, driven by sales of vaccines against the Corona virus and treatments for “Covid-19” disease.

"I'm very proud of our performance this quarter, both from a financial perspective and from the point of view that we've tried to be a force for good in the world," said Albert Burla, president of Pfizer.

He pointed out that the Pfizer vaccine, which was manufactured jointly with the German company "Biontech", has become one of the most important main vaccines that are used around the world to control the pandemic.

The increase in profits was translated into achieving a net income of 7.86 billion dollars during the first quarter, compared to 4.88 billion dollars during the same period last year.

Revenues also jumped 77%, from $14.52 billion to $25.66 billion.
