For these spring holidays, many French people went green, like an air before the pandemic.

The Gîtes de France have almost three times more reservations this year than at the same time last year, offering the tourism sector in France great prospects for this summer.

A boom in bookings.

After the long period of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has greatly weakened the tourism sector in France, the French are leaving for the holidays.

The Gîtes de France, for example, have been a hit, with almost three times more reservations this year than at the same time last year.

Same observation on the side of Abritel, specialist in booking vacation rentals.

The French are leaving more this year and they keep this desire for green, contracted during the Covid-19 crisis.

Reservations in France, but also abroad

The Jura and Maine et Loire are, for example, the destinations that are progressing the most at Abritel, with stays also restarting abroad: New York, Dubai and Rome in the lead.

According to the president of travel companies, Jean-Pierre Mas, the sector is approaching pre-crisis activity.

"These are the first real holidays abroad. This winter, there were winter sports holidays and then a little bit of long-haul. But there, they are back to their pre-crisis habits. They mainly go to Spain, Italy, Greece and Tunisia", explains the president.

“There is obviously an air of freedom, of the desire to travel, to draw a line under two years of constraints in terms of holidays”, he adds.

The same trend seems to be emerging for this summer, with a good rate of reservations, even if the trend of leaving at the last minute continues.
