After a strong rebound of 18% in 2021, companies revised their executive recruitment forecasts down slightly in the second quarter.

Executive hiring will still continue to grow by 5% in 2022 despite the impact of the war in Ukraine which will slow down the dynamic, according to forecasts by the Association for Executive Employment (Apec).

Economic signals turn orange.

According to the latest barometer from the Association for Executive Employment (Apec), published on Monday, employers have revised their hiring forecasts downwards, particularly for executives, due to the war in Ukraine, which is worrying always so much the French.

Confidence in the future is falling

Between the beginning of the year and the month of April, nearly 20,000 recruitment projects did not take place.

One thing is certain: concern vis-à-vis this international context is beginning to emerge.

According to the Apec barometer, 16% of SMEs plan to recruit at least one executive in the next three months, ie three points less than in the first quarter, but these hiring intentions remain at high levels.

The confidence of companies in the future is falling and that of employees too.

One in two executives believes that the Ukrainian conflict will have a real impact on their business.

The sector most affected by this loss of optimism is the industrial sector.

Only 67% of industrial companies are optimistic about the future, since they are the most directly concerned by the impacts of this war, such as the problems of supply and energy costs.

A drop in confidence which will weigh on this sector, even though it still needs a large workforce.
