After having served the national gendarmerie in the 1960s, the Alpine is back to equip the police, as decided by the Ministry of the Interior.

The latest version of the Alpine A110 was delivered on Monday to the gendarmerie barracks in Buchères (Aube), reports France 3 Grand Est.

The racing car that can run at 250km/h will replace the Megane RS.

It "will ensure a visible and dissuasive presence on high traffic roads", explained the Aube gendarmerie on a Facebook post the same day.

Eventually, a large part of the French gendarmeries will be equipped with them.

Power and speed

With its 250 horsepower, the sports car will be used to fight excessive speeding.

It will also be involved in flow control and overall road and motorway surveillance missions.

Manufactured in Dieppe (Seine-Maritime), these vehicles are low-polluting and extremely powerful, which naturally makes them suitable for this type of operation.
