The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s production capacity of electricity increased from 43 megawatts in 1970 to 13,417 megawatts in 2021, an increase of more than 300 times. Al Tayer continued: "The advanced infrastructure owned by the Authority and its adoption of innovation and sound scientific planning have enabled it to keep pace with Dubai's prosperity and meet the increasing demand for electricity and water in accordance with the highest standards of availability, reliability, efficiency and sustainability."

He said: "The total production capacity of the authority amounts to 13.41 thousand megawatts of electricity, including 1,527 megawatts of renewable energy using photovoltaic solar panels at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex, the largest solar energy complex in one location with an independent product system in the world, and its capacity will reach The production capacity is 5,000 megawatts by 2030. The Hassyan complex for energy production with natural gas and the complex of Jebel Ali power and water desalination plants are among the main pillars for providing the Emirate of Dubai with high-quality electricity and water services.

The total water production capacity of the Authority is 490 million gallons of water per day, of which 63 million gallons are using reverse osmosis technology.

We aim to produce 100% of desalinated water using a mix of clean energy that combines renewable energy sources and waste heat by 2030.”

It is noteworthy that the authority provides its services to the 3.5 million residents of Dubai, in addition to the millions of visitors to Dubai annually.

The number of electricity accounts with the Authority reached 1,061,476 accounts at the end of 2021, compared to 752,50 accounts at the end of 2016, an increase of 41%.

The number of water accounts reached 960,32 accounts by the end of 2021, compared to 666 thousand accounts at the end of 2016, an increase of 44%.

The total number of electricity and water accounts reached 2021 million by the end of 2021.
