In many cases, the state of digitization in Germany borders on satire.

The health insurance companies recently announced that they could not obtain enough paper to inform all customers in good time about a possible corona vaccination requirement.

In real estate management, the paperwork doesn't look much better.

At least some progress is near here: Tenants in apartment buildings should generally be informed about the consumption of their heating and hot water every month.

The transparency can help to save energy.

However, to ensure that digitization does not progress too quickly, the Federal Government is relying on a longer transition period.

It will not be until 2027 that every consumption meter will really have to be able to be read remotely so that residents can regularly be informed of their energy consumption.

Here, too, it is difficult to answer why digital progress is so slow in a developed country like Germany.

It's just funny that this doesn't contain the flood of paper at all, but that the monthly information can also be sent by post.

Politicians should quickly cut down on this paperwork and make digital notifications the norm.

Then it doesn't have to be a case for satire.
