According to a representative of the concern, the company came to this conclusion "after an initial, non-binding assessment."

“We continue to believe that appropriate processing of payments [in euros] in the future is possible,” TASS said in a statement.

Earlier, the European Commission said that European companies could agree to a system of payment for Russian gas in rubles without violating anti-Russian sanctions.

On March 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had signed a decree on gas trade with unfriendly countries. 

According to him, in order for Western countries to be able to purchase gas from Russia, they must open accounts in Russian banks.
