On April 24, the State Council Information Office held a press conference on the development of China's intellectual property rights in 2021. Shen Changyu, director of the State Intellectual Property Office, introduced that a total of 696,000 invention patents will be authorized in 2021, and the number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 population will reach 7.5 pieces, an increase of 1.2 pieces over the previous year.

The number of international patent applications submitted by Chinese applicants through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) reached 69,500, ranking first in the world for the third consecutive year.

In the "2021 Global Innovation Index Report" released by the World Intellectual Property Organization, China ranks 12th in the world, with steady improvement for nine consecutive years.
