“On the one hand, Poland is leaving the heating season in good condition, because it has been actively buying Russian gas all winter, thanks to which it has saved on what they have in underground storage facilities.

But, on the other hand, their underground storage facilities are small, so you won’t last long on them.

It is rather an element of balance at the time of a surge in consumption,” the analyst believes.

In his opinion, Poland is betting on an LNG terminal, which will make it possible to receive approximately 5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

“How can they replace Russian gas?

To collect another 2.5 billion cubic meters at the expense of the LNG terminal, and then it will be necessary to launch the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline, which they are currently building and expect to be completed by October.

But the problem is that they cannot yet contract the required volumes, ”added Yushkov.

He also noted that Poland will not be able to abandon Russian gas "without reducing gas consumption within the country."

“If you refuse Russian gas, then you need to find additional LNG somewhere.

And now it is in short supply, which means it will be necessary to overpay for it ... Either you will have to stop some enterprises or increase coal consumption.

But this is also problematic, because Russia was the main supplier of coal to Poland, ”concluded the interlocutor of RT.

Earlier, the head of the gas transmission operator Gaz-System, Tomasz Stempen, said that Poland was ready to stop importing Russian gas.

According to him, at the moment, Polish gas storage facilities are almost 80% full.
