Since it is not easy to manage pipes such as heat transport pipes and gas pipes installed under the ground, workers suffered casualties one after another.

But now, thanks to LTE technology, which was known as a mobile phone communication network, it is now possible to secure safety.

Reporter Jeong Seong-jin reports how LTE helps.

A carbon monoxide explosion in which three people died while working on a sewer pipe, and a gas poisoning accident in which two people died while trying to save a colleague who fell from poisonous gas.

There are about 20 such underground suffocation accidents every year.

This is because it is impossible to know underground conditions such as manholes and septic tanks on the ground.

LTE technology, known only as a mobile phone network, changed the situation.

The operator had to check whether gas leaks or water does not fill up, but now a sensor installed inside the manhole sends the situation to the control room every hour.

If the operator has to go in, the camera on the helmet can manage it in real time.

[Na Han-seop / Manhole work site official: Since there is such a space that is up to 1 km underground if it is long, it is very helpful to work very well because we monitor and check safety together while watching (from the outside).]

One person died and over 50 It is now possible to prevent accidents in the heat transport pipe in which people were injured.

Since it is buried in the ground, it was all possible to look at it with a thermal imaging camera until now, but it was also solved with LTE technology.

If you drill a small hole in the pipe and install the sensor on it, it checks the ground temperature and echoes every hour and transmits it to the control room.

If the level is dangerous, it even sends a text alert.

[Jeong Sook-kyung / LG U+ wireless business manager: Human safety is expected to be strengthened as communication and technology replace risk factors caused by direct inspection by people.]

Not only industrial sites, but also forest fires and earthquake disaster sites Smart IT technology is protecting our lives.
