The employees of Deutsche Bahn fear overloads on certain train routes because of the 9-euro ticket announced by the federal government.

Especially in the holiday regions, a large crowd can be expected during the validity period of the ticket, said the Vice Chairman of the General Works Council DB Regio, Ralf Damde, the editorial network Germany.

In order to avoid delays caused by overcrowded trains, additional staff are needed at stations in tourist areas.

"We are also calling for additional security forces to be able to clear crowded trains and platforms if necessary," Damde said.

"Otherwise chaos could break out."

He called the 9-euro ticket promised by politicians "an unbelievable exertion for the employees of all railway and transport companies".

There are also numerous unanswered questions, such as whether the 9-euro ticket entitles you to take bicycles with you.

Damde ruled out a significant increase in the existing range of trains and buses during the validity period of the ticket.

“DB Regio alone will be making 40 to 50 additional double-deck coaches operational.

But there aren't many more reserves," he said.

The 9-euro monthly ticket for local public transport is expected to start on June 1 and will be valid nationwide for three months.

The federal government wants to cover the costs of an estimated 2.5 billion euros for the three-month benefit.

The ticket is part of the government's relief package because of high energy prices.
