Mini's return to competition was initiated last September, at Bulldog Racing in the Eifel region, just a few strides from the “Nordschleife”.

The racing car is equipped with the 4-cylinder turbo engine (306 hp – 450 Nm) found in the Mini John Cooper Works Clubman ALL4 and Mini John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4.

The 8-speed Sport automatic transmission from the production model has been retained, but a mechanical differential lock has been added.

Many changes

For the needs of the competition, and to meet the regulations of the SP3T category, several modifications have been made.

These include the installation of roll bars, the fitting of a 100 liter tank and the addition of an adjustable rear spoiler, a front spoiler and a rear diffuser.

The car is also equipped with a specific racing suspension with adjustable damping.

A pneumatic lift compressor was provided, the sports exhaust system was adapted with a competition catalyst and original BMW M Performance brake elements were fitted.

In addition, the weight has been significantly reduced by using, among other things, Makrolon windows (no relation to...).

Only seven months have passed between the start of the project and the launch at the end of March 2022. In the coming weeks and until the start of the race, new tests are planned on the large northern loop of the Nürburgring, and at the BMW Group test center in Miramas, in the south of France.

There will be sports!
