Treasury

is not willing to cut taxes

to alleviate the situation of families, and help them cope with the escalation of prices and the double crisis that they are suffering in just two years.

Minister María Jesús Montero has already affirmed on several occasions that there will not be a measure of this type, and today she has influenced again after the specific proposal that the PP of Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

"There is a consensus at European level that this is not a time of generalized tax cuts," said Montero in Seville, where he went to participate in a day commemorating the 30th anniversary of the entry into operation of the Madrid-Seville AVE.

And, at the same time, he has stressed the argument that a tax cut "

means a deterioration of public services

", according to Europa Press.

The minister, however, has not explained how the deflation of income tax defended by the PP, and supported by numerous economists, causes this deterioration of public services.

In fact, for many experts, adjusting the income tax for inflation is not even a tax cut.

And, on the other hand,

not doing so does suppose a hidden fiscal increase

.

Montero, however, does not share that vision, and prefers not to modify the personal income tax despite the fact that the collection for this tax, as well as the total collection, is at record highs.

"I think it is a government that has attended at any time to the circumstances that have arisen without this implying a deterioration of public services," Montero added, according to Europa Press, to later add that organizations such as the IMF "do not advise in no case a tax reduction".

"On the contrary, they suggest that it is probably

necessary to make a greater effort on the part of high incomes

", he has maintained.
