Sales at convenience stores nationwide last month exceeded the previous year for the first time in two months due to strong sales of fried foods and coffee against the backdrop of demand for cherry blossom viewing and other holidays.

According to the Japan Franchise Association, last month's sales of convenience stores nationwide totaled 875.3 billion yen for existing stores that have been open for more than a year, an increase of 1.2% from the same month of the previous year.

It is the first time in two months that sales have been positive since the previous year.

This is due to the increase in sales of frozen foods and clothing that each company has strengthened its product lineup due to the corona slump, and sales of fried foods and coffee were strong in the latter half of the month against the backdrop of demand in resort areas such as cherry blossom viewing. Is the main factor.

However, the number of customers visiting the store decreased from the previous year due to the influence of priority measures such as prevention of spread.

The Japan Franchise Association says, "We will continue to pay close attention to how the infection status of the new corona and the weather affect the number of customers visiting our stores."
