Is there water in the gas between the United Arab Emirates and Israel?

Tuesday, April 19, the UAE Minister for International Cooperation, Rim al-Hachémi, summoned the Israeli Ambassador to Abu Dhabi, Amir Hayek.

A first since the normalization of relations between the two countries a year and a half ago.

The Emirates expressed their "

strong protest

" against "

attacks and

incursions into holy places

which have resulted in injuries among civilians

".

The minister also called "

to ensure full protection for the faithful and to respect the right of Palestinians to practice their religious rites

", specifies the official Emirati news agency.

In addition to these diplomatic tensions, an imbroglio has also arisen in this context.

Several Israeli media have widely relayed information on the alleged participation of two Abu Dhabi airlines in the celebrations of the independence of the Jewish state.

According to Etihad, one of the companies concerned, this information is "

unfounded

".

In a press release, the national company of the Emirates affirms that its participation in this event was never planned.
