“Such information is unlikely to be published,” he said, answering a question about the status of the transition to a new gas payment scheme, and how many countries have agreed to it.

According to him, the relevant departments, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and "primarily Gazprom" with their counterparts, that is, direct buyers, are doing this.

Peskov added that, as already mentioned, "payment will follow somewhere in May for these deliveries," which began after the presidential decree came into force.

Earlier, Novak called it logical to transfer payments for Russian gas supplies into rubles, noting that several buyers have already agreed to this settlement scheme.

On March 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on gas trade with unfriendly countries.

According to him, in order for Western countries to be able to purchase gas from Russia, they must open accounts in Russian banks.
