"Output control" is being implemented one after another by electric power companies asking solar power generation companies to temporarily stop power generation.

In order to eliminate waste of renewable energy, the national government is working to increase the number of transmission lines and promote the introduction of storage batteries.

Solar power can become unbalanced if supply significantly exceeds demand, and in the worst case, a major power outage can occur.

To avoid this situation, electric power companies perform "output control" that requires solar power generation companies to temporarily stop power generation when the amount of power generation is expected to increase, such as on sunny days.

Until now, it was held only in the area of Kyushu Electric Power, which has a large amount of solar power generation, but it was held for the first time in the area of Shikoku Electric Power on the 9th of this month and in the area of Tohoku Electric Power on the 10th.

The government has set a policy to significantly increase the introduction of renewable energy toward the realization of a carbon-free society, but if output control is implemented frequently, power generation from renewable energy will be unnecessarily large.

In addition, it may be difficult for businesses to earn profits commensurate with their investment, making it difficult to expand their business.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will strengthen the transmission lines that send surplus electricity to other areas, promote the introduction of storage batteries, and promote efforts to promote the use of electricity during times when the amount of power generation increases.
