Central Bank: Russians can transfer rubles to open accounts abroad

) does not apply to cases when residents credit funds in rubles to their bank accounts (deposits) in rubles opened in foreign banks,” RIA Novosti reports a message from the regulator.

The Central Bank added that residents have the right to convert rubles into foreign currency and credit it to their foreign account or transfer it to another person's account in a foreign bank.

Recall that, according to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, from March 1, it is prohibited for residents of the country to transfer foreign currency to their accounts or deposits in foreign banks.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury previously banned transactions with the Russian Central Bank, the Treasury and the National Wealth Fund.
