Toray, a major textile manufacturer, has released a report compiled by an investigation committee made up of lawyers over the problem of illegally obtaining certification from a third-party organization for the resin products it manufactures.

Toray is a resin product used in home appliances and automobiles, and when it obtains certification from a third-party organization regarding its incombustibility, it submits a sample product separate from the product to make it appear to meet the standards. I was cheating.

On the 12th, the company released a report of an investigation committee by a lawyer who investigated the cause of this problem.

According to this, fraudulent measures have been repeated for more than 30 years, and fraud was confirmed in 122 of the 410 certified varieties.

In response to the investigation, the person in charge so far said, "If you fail the certification test, production will be stopped" or "It was an implicit understanding."

Also, in 2017, the director in charge of the resin department was informed that fraudulent activities were being carried out on multiple products, but no drastic measures were taken.

In addition, the report points out that the cause of fraud is a closed organizational culture and lack of independence of the quality assurance department, and recommends personnel transfers between different business divisions and strengthening of the quality assurance department.

Toray will dispose of the parties concerned in the future.
