Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has decided to acquire a team participating in Formula E, an international race called F1 of EV = electric vehicle.

The aim is to improve the technology of electrification in the field of motor sports and utilize it for the development of commercial EVs.

Nissan Motor will acquire the French team "e.dams" that is competing in Formula E, an international race called F1 of EV.



Nissan has signed a partnership agreement with this team since it entered Formula E for the first time as a Japanese automobile manufacturer in 2018.



With this acquisition, Nissan and the team will strengthen cooperation not only in racing but also in car development.



EVs without an engine are said to sell quiet and smooth acceleration, but it is said that it is difficult to make a difference in ride quality and operability compared to gasoline engine cars.



Nissan aims to differentiate itself from other companies' cars by further refining its technological capabilities in the field of motor sports and utilizing it in the development of commercial EVs.
