Expo 2020 Dubai raises hotel occupancy in Dubai to record levels

The STR Corporation, which specializes in hotel research and consultancy, revealed that Dubai hotels recorded during the last weeks of Expo 2020 Dubai their best monthly occupancy rate since 2007, at 91.7%.

The institution specialized in research and hotel consultancy added that, like the previous two versions of "Expo Shanghai 2010" and "Expo Milan 2015", the mega event proved its role in raising hotel occupancy rates in Dubai to its highest levels, pointing out that Dubai hotels did not register Occupancy levels around 90% in March, since 2007, when the market capacity was lowest, at nearly 90,000 rooms.

The data indicated that, in addition to the record occupancy rate, the average price of a hotel room in Dubai during March amounted to 891 dirhams, which is the second highest level during the “Covid-19” pandemic period, after December 2021, during which the average amounted to 948 dirhams per room. On the other hand, the return on available room rate reached its highest level since March 2015, reaching 817 dirhams per room.

The corporation explained that by looking at the analysis of daily occupancy data, Dubai hotels recorded a daily occupancy rate of more than 90% over a period of 25 days during March, and daily occupancy peaked on March 24, reaching 96%.
