The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry held a meeting with top executives of companies on the 11th, as the threat of cyber attacks increased due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and urged companies to take further measures.

About 20 people, including top executives of companies and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hagiuda, attended the meeting.

In this, Minister Hagiuda expressed a sense of crisis, saying, "Damage such as ransomware that requires ransom has been confirmed in Japanese companies in various industries, and the risk is increasing."

Regarding cyber attacks on Japanese companies, in February, parts manufacturers in Aichi Prefecture were hit by a cyber attack, causing a system failure and causing serious damage such as the shutdown of all Toyota Motor's factories in Japan. I'm out.

At the meeting, the person in charge of the country regularly conducts data backup and system recovery training in case of a system failure on the company side, and the business operator that provides IT services is vulnerable to the product. If found, we asked them to put more effort into security measures, such as actively contacting client companies.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said that there are differences in the response of companies affected by cyber attacks, and has a policy of creating new guidelines on when and how companies disclose damage information, in order to strengthen the response capabilities of companies. We are planning to further promote our efforts in the future.
