A Saudi company establishes a strategic joint venture with Boeing

The Saudi company "SAMI" announced the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with the "American Boeing Company", which specializes in the industries of aerospace, defense systems, space and security, and a provider of aviation services for corporate clients and defense equipment, to establish a joint strategic project in the Kingdom.

And the Saudi Press Agency “SPA” quoted the Chairman of SAMI’s Board of Directors, Ahmed bin Aqeel Al-Khatib, as saying that “this joint venture will serve to meet the needs of the growing aviation sector in the Kingdom, and pave the way for more fruitful cooperation in the coming years.”


In turn, the CEO of the company, Engineer Walid bin Abdul Majeed Abu Khaled, said that the aviation sector in the Kingdom is full of important opportunities to localize and develop new sustainable capabilities, which will enable the support and development of local capabilities and national cadres, expecting that the number of aircraft in the Kingdom will double over the next 10 years.

He expressed his hope that the joint venture will be a first step towards a broader strategic partnership between SAMI and Boeing in the future, which will include more platforms and services in this field.

For his part, Boeing’s Vice President for Defense and International Government Services, Turbo Sjogren, said that under the new agreement, maintenance, repair and overhaul services will be provided for helicopter platforms in the Kingdom, stressing the continued commitment to the partnership with “SAMI” and work with various stakeholders in the Kingdom. To contribute effectively to the achievement of the objectives of the "Kingdom's Vision 2030".

The announcement of the agreement came during the opening of the "International Defense Exhibition", which was held in Riyadh, in the presence of a number of senior officials from both parties.
