With regard to the energy price level, which rose sharply as a result of the Ukraine war, Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) commented on the possibility of gas and oil production in the North Sea.

"To put it bluntly: I think the coalition agreement's stipulation that we no longer want to produce oil and gas in the North Sea and do not want to explore new fields is out of date," he told the magazine "The European".

At the moment, Germany would not use all available raw material reserves.

Due to current developments, the domestic production of oil and gas is economically more important than previously assumed.

"Especially with the Dutch, we have to see what's going on in the North Sea," said Lindner.

One-Dyas, a company from the Netherlands, is already planning to build a gas production platform near the Wadden Sea, with which an annual production of around two billion cubic meters of gas should be possible.

Last summer, the red-black state government spoke out against this project, but positioned itself in favor of a reassessment in view of the uncertainties regarding the energy supply.
