The Government has finally decided to come out in defense of the Spanish companies attacked by the President of Ukraine,

Volodímir Zelenski,

and assures in a statement that

"they strictly comply with the sanctions imposed on Russia"

. The Executive did not react immediately to Zelenski's attack in his intervention before the Cortes to Porcelanosa, Sercobe and Maxam, but he ended up ruling 24 hours later.

It has been the Ministry headed by

Reyes Maroto

, who has come out in his defense after the Government's silence so far.

"The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism

wants to praise the responsibility of Spanish companies

that strictly comply with the sanctions regime imposed on Russia, due to the invasion of Ukraine", he points out in his statement.

"Regarding the companies cited by the Ukrainian president, they themselves have clarified that they currently

do not maintain any type of activity in the Russian market

and that they join the international condemnation of the war," says the Ministry.

Both Porcelanosa and Sercobe have confirmed this and, although Maxam has publicly remained silent, it has explained its situation to the Ministry, which provides support.

According to the Ministry, "through the Secretary of State for Commerce, it is in permanent contact, from minute one of the conflict, with all companies and associations with interests in Russia.

Numerous meetings have been held with them to accompany them in the process of suspension of operations in Russia

".

The Secretary of State for Commerce, Xiana Méndez, has personally maintained the contacts.

"A mailbox has also been created on the Ministry's website, through which doubts have been clarified to more than 500 queries. The Economic Offices of Spain in Russia and Ukraine also collaborate in this information work with companies and business associations Spanish companies with activity in Russia", affirms the Department of Maroto.

Zelenski disqualified Porcelanosa, Sercobe and Maxam in his speech at the Congress of Deputies last Tuesday and asked them to stop doing business in Russia.

"I want to address companies like Maxam, Porcelanosa and Sercobe and other companies

so that they stop doing business with Russia

," said the head of the Ukrainian state, without receiving a government reply until 24 hours later and once the companies themselves denied the facts.
