The government has decided to first spend 36 billion won in the reserve fund for the cost of relocating the Oval Office promoted by President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol.

We have decided to discuss additional matters such as the creation of the presidential office and the relocation of the bodyguard after monitoring the progress.

The government held an ad hoc cabinet meeting today (6th) at the government complex in Seoul and decided to spend 36 billion won in reserve funds for the relocation of the presidential office to Yongsan.

The resolutions consisted of 17.6 billion won under the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, 11.8 billion won under the Ministry of National Defense, and 6.6 billion won under the Presidential Security Service.

The government has decided to first build facilities essential for security, such as a crisis management center and a general security situation room.

The purpose is to ensure that there is no gap in security.

The cost involved here is 11.6 billion won.

The Ministry of National Defense command department and the Joint Chiefs of Staff will move forward after the construction of essential security facilities is completed.

However, considering the necessity of a lump sum contract for moving expenses, a total of KRW 11.8 billion has been allocated for the Ministry of National Defense relocation expenses to this reserve fund.

KRW 10.1 billion will be invested in general office construction costs and computerized service systems.

The total cost of remodeling the Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army, which is to be used as the presidential residence, was fully reflected.

Earlier, President-elect Yoon stated that a total of 49.6 billion won would be needed to relocate the office to the Ministry of National Defense.

11.8 billion won for the relocation of the Ministry of National Defense's Joint Chiefs of Staff building, 25.2 billion won for the remodeling of the Ministry of National Defense, 9.97 billion won for the moving expenses of the National Security Agency, and 2.5 billion won for the remodeling of the Hannam-dong government building.

In comparison, the preliminary budget for the first round of voting is KRW 13.6 billion short of the amount suggested by President-elect Yoon.

The government said that additional requirements, such as the creation of the presidential office and the relocation of the bodyguard, will be discussed later in consideration of the construction status of security-related facilities such as the crisis management center and the end of the ROK-U.S. Combined Command Post training scheduled for the end of April.

The remaining shortfall is leaving room for additional reserves to be prepared within the term of the Moon Jae-in government while monitoring the situation.

The government said, "After the announcement of the relocation of President-elect Yoon's office to Yongsan, we closely consulted with the Presidential Transition Committee and agreed on a plan to move the related facilities in stages." said.
