The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has launched a database to monitor energy and water consumption in government buildings as one of the initiatives of the National Program for Energy and Water Demand Management, which will help to know energy and water consumption in buildings, and identify the buildings that consume the most in order to develop programs and projects for rationalization that contribute to reducing energy consumption. water, reduce carbon footprint and reduce operating costs in government buildings.

The Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, head of the national team for the National Energy and Water Demand Management Program, Engineer Sherif Al-Olama, explained that “the first phase of the project aims to cover all federal government buildings, as it will be linked with all concerned authorities to achieve integration and benefit from data in special rationalization programs.” in every direction.”

He pointed out that "the second phase of the project will be completed by the end of this year, as all local authorities will be able to connect their buildings and monitor consumption to achieve maximum benefit from the database, ensuring the achievement of common goals, and contributing to achieving the goals of the Emirates Energy Strategy 2050."

For his part, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Federal Projects Implementation Sector, Head of the Technical Committee for the Buildings Sector in the National Energy and Water Demand Management Program, Engineer Youssef Abdullah, said that the database represents an innovative system aimed at encouraging individuals and institutions to follow a sustainable lifestyle capable of making a positive impact. on the environment and the preservation of natural resources, in addition to educating community members in the field of rationalizing energy and water consumption to become a daily behavior, while the information, data, figures and results will document the efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure on rationalizing energy and water consumption in government buildings.”

He added that the database for monitoring energy and water consumption in government buildings constitutes a practical step to complement the efforts of the National Program for Energy and Water Demand Management, with the aim of increasing the efficiency of the three most important energy consuming sectors, transport, industry and construction by 40%, reducing water consumption in the agricultural and building sectors, and raising Efficient water consumption, increasing the reuse of treated water to 95%.
