Honda, an automobile manufacturer, announced that it will develop a new EV / electric vehicle to be launched in the global market in collaboration with GM = General Motors of the United States.

Last month, it announced that it would embark on joint development of EVs with the Sony Group, and is accelerating collaboration to increase its presence in the market.

According to the announcement, Honda will further strengthen its relationship with its former partner, GM in the United States, and jointly develop a new EV to be launched in the global market.

The battery, which is the heart of the EV, will be equipped with the one developed by GM, and it is planned to sell it in the world market including North America from 2027, aiming for production volume of several million units including GM.

Furthermore, by designing the car so that it can be manufactured at the factories of both companies and reducing the cost, the aim is to reduce the price of EV, which tends to be more expensive than gasoline engine cars.

Honda President Toshihiro Mibe commented, "Honda and GM will further strengthen the collaboration in the technical field so far in order to dramatically increase the sales volume of EVs globally."

Honda just announced last month that it will partner with the Sony Group in the field of EVs, and is accelerating collaboration to increase its presence as EV development and sales become more active around the world.
