Five-star luxury hotel rooms accounted for 34% of the total hotel market size in Dubai, registering 47,483 hotel rooms within 144 hotel establishments, followed by four-star hotel rooms by 29%, registering 40,595 hotel rooms within 183 facility.

For its part, hotels classified between three and one star accounted for about 18% of the total hotel market volume, with a capacity of 25,414 hotel rooms within 245 hotel facilities.

7.28 million visitors in 2021

Last year, Dubai welcomed 7.28 million international visitors, an increase of 32% compared to the same period in 2020.

According to data issued by the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, the number of visitors to Dubai in the last quarter of 2021 reached more than 3.4 million visitors, which constituted 74% of the total number of international visitors for the same period in 2019, and thus positively affected the performance of the hotel sector, exceeding Pre-global health crisis levels caused by the “Covid-19” pandemic.

Tourists from Europe are in the first place

Western Europe ranked first in terms of the source of visitors to Dubai, according to the geographical region, having acquired 27% of the total number of visitors, followed by the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf with 16%, then Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Eastern Europe with 15%.

The share of South Asia and the Middle East and North Africa was 13%, while the Americas scored 7%, North and Southeast Asian countries 4%, Africa 4%, and Australasia (Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and neighboring islands) 1%.
