On the 18th of last month, the temperature at the Jangbogo Science Station in Korea in the eastern part of Antarctica soared to 8.8℃, the highest ever observed.

It is the first time since the base was built in 2014 that the temperature of the Jangbogo base rose to the freezing zone in March.

March in Antarctica is the coldest month, with the average temperature dropping below minus 10 degrees Celsius.

However, not just one day, but three consecutive days of unusually high temperatures, and at the same time, a mass of ten thousand-year-old ice several hundred meters in size and the collapse of the ice shelf were also detected.

Today (1st) night, SBS 8 News will tell you in detail about an interview with a station crew member Jang Bogo, who witnessed the changing Antarctic climate on the spot.
