A law requiring companies and others to reduce disposable plastic products will come into effect on April 1.

The company in Nagoya, which sells bamboo toothbrushes and combs for hotels, is receiving orders from all over the country.

Under the "Plastic Resource Recycling Law" that comes into effect on the 1st, companies are obliged to reduce 12 disposable plastic products such as toothbrushes and razors that are provided to customers free of charge at hotels and inns.

Toyowa, a company that supports the construction and opening of stores in Nagoya, has begun selling bamboo toothbrushes and kushi to hotels and inns in an attempt to reduce the amount of plastic.

Depending on the company, the price is more than double that of plastic ones, but the product is durable and can be used repeatedly for about a month instead of being disposable.

In the future, we plan to sell new paper-like toothpaste, reducing the amount of plastic used in conventional toothpaste tubes and eliminating the need to leave toothpaste.

According to the company, when the law was passed in June last year, the number of inquiries from all over the country increased rapidly, and to date, 1 million bamboo toothbrushes have been sold.

Miyo Yamamoto, director of this company, said, "I think we will be in a society where it is not natural to throw it away, but on the contrary, it will become commonplace."
