In the premium segment, a large sedan remains, it seems, a must.

But with its positioning "between two waters" and the absence of advanced motorization (and even diesel), the DS9 could hardly compete against the German references.

The brand is therefore expanding the mechanical offer with two new rechargeable hybrid variants which are added to the existing 225 hp version.

The first displays a total of 250 hp and shines above all with its generous 15.6 kWh battery, bringing the electric range to 61 km.

But it is above all the second which must affirm DS as a truly top-of-the-range brand.

Called the E-Tense 360 4x4, it combines a 200 hp 1.6l petrol engine with two electric motors, 100 hp on the front axle, 113 hp on the rear axle, to deliver a combined total of 360 hp and provide four driving wheels.

She hides her game well!

On paper, this version may appear to be "just" a more powerful variant.

But the changes are actually substantial.

In particular, electronic management has been reviewed.

Because if the objective of the other hybrid engines is to optimize consumption by regulating the electrical and thermal flows, it is above all a question in the present case of permanently offering all the power to the driver, therefore of ensuring that the battery remains sufficiently charged to power the electric motors.

This may seem secondary on a car ostensibly geared towards comfort like the DS9, even with its firmer suspensions in this case.

And yet, this version showed surprising health on our course, which was winding to say the least, displaying real dynamism and real efficiency, carefully wrapped in the comfort and “French-style” chic characteristic of the saloon.

This top-of-the-range version also enriches its equipment with a specific menu encouraging the driver to optimize his energy regeneration when lifting the foot.

However, its price is quite steep: €67,500.

As if in this too, the DS attacked the Germans on their ground.
