Since the start of the war in Ukraine, France has welcomed 26,000 refugees on its territory.

French companies, hit by recruitment tensions, have multiplied initiatives to try to integrate them.

But there are many obstacles that hinder the recruitment of these foreigners.

Road transport, catering, IT, construction,... so many sectors that lack arms, but which are also very masculine.

A total of 2,000 job offers were posted on the Ministry of Labor website.

However, the majority of some 26,000 Ukrainian refugees who have arrived on French soil since the start of the war in Ukraine are women and children.

This can be a hindrance for certain companies which are experiencing a shortage of personnel, or a challenge to be met, such as for Transdev which wants to train Ukrainian women to become bus drivers.

Refugees could also find work in the personal care sector.

Refugee work, "a temporary solution"

The vice-president of the National Union of Caregivers, Julien Mayet, explains however that this will be a temporary solution.

"I wish these Ukrainian refugees that they can go back to their country as soon as the war is over. I think that's what they want too," he said at the microphone of Europe 1. "For us, it is not a solution”, he adds.

"Our needs are long-term, and they will only get bigger as time goes on."

They have no accommodation, no bank account, and speak very little French.

Several companies are therefore calling for a boost from the government, which says it is working on a specific support system.
