  In the fourth quarter of 2021, the People's Bank of China completed the central bank rating of 4,398 banking financial institutions.

The rating results show that most institutions are within the safe boundary (level 1-7), and high-risk institutions (level 8-D) have declined for 6 consecutive quarters, more than half of the peak pressure.

  It is reported that 4,398 participating institutions include 24 large banks, 3,997 small and medium-sized banks, and 377 non-banking institutions.

  On the whole, the rating results of most institutions are within the safe boundary (level 1-7), and the assets account for about 99%.

There are 2,201 institutions in the "green zone" (levels 1-5), 1,881 institutions in the "yellow zone" (levels 6-7), and 316 institutions in the "red zone" (levels 8-D).

  In terms of trends, the number of high-risk institutions has halved from the peak, and has declined for six consecutive quarters.

The number of high-risk institutions nationwide has decreased by 333 from the peak, and the total assets of the existing 316 high-risk institutions only account for 1% of the total assets of the banking industry.

  In terms of institution type, large banks have the best ratings.

Large banks were rated as 2 at 1, 11 at 2, 7 at 3, 3 at 4, and 1 at 7.

24 large banks accounted for 71% of assets.

Among the small and medium-sized banks, foreign banks and private banks have better rating results, with 93% and 70% of the institutions respectively located in the 1-5 level, and no high-risk institutions; 67% of the city commercial banks are located in the 1-5 level. However, 10% of the institutions are high-risk institutions (with assets accounting for 3% of all city commercial banks); rural cooperative institutions (including rural commercial banks, rural cooperative banks, and rural credit cooperatives) and village banks have the highest risks, and the number of high-risk institutions They are 186 and 103 respectively, and their assets account for 5% and 7% of the institutions of this type, respectively.

  From the perspective of regional distribution, the number of existing high-risk institutions is characterized by regional concentration.

As of the end of 2021, 11 provinces (cities, districts) across the country have no high-risk institutions, and 13 provinces (cities, districts) have single-digit high-risk institutions.

The stock of high-risk institutions is mainly concentrated in four provinces.
