In the letter, Yu Minhong stated that New Oriental Group decided to suspend the compulsory education stage of Beijing Changping New Oriental Bilingual School from the fall of this year (2022), that is, the education of primary and junior high schools, and New Oriental Group could not provide continuous venue and financial support for the school. .
According to the open letter, Beijing Changping New Oriental Bilingual School will suspend compulsory education after the end of the spring semester in 2022, that is, the school's primary and junior high schools.
29th grade (junior three) students are normally promoted to the high school department of our school to continue their studies according to their personal wishes.
The school will provide resources and assistance to help students in grades 1-8 to continue their studies in other schools in Beijing, and will compensate all students in grades 1-8 with RMB 20,000 each.
In the open letter, Yu Minhong stated that there are two main reasons for the suspension of primary and junior high schools:
One is the policy reason.
Due to national policies and regulations, New Oriental Group, as a listed company, will not be able to continue to run the compulsory education stage of New Oriental Bilingual School in Changping District, Beijing, and will not be able to provide continuous venue and financial support for the school, which will result in the school being unable to continue to operate on its own
Second, due to historical reasons, New Oriental has been unable to provide children with a campus with complete facilities and complete school buildings and venues.
In the past few years, according to the requirements of relevant departments, Changping New Oriental Bilingual School has successively demolished several above-ground buildings such as teachers' dormitories, a 400-meter runway, outdoor playgrounds and stands.
Nor will these buildings be allowed to be rebuilt in our foreseeable future.
And the comprehensive teaching buildings, gymnasiums, science classrooms, and professional classrooms for music, sports and beauty in the school's planning will remain on the drawings forever because of land procedures, and there is no possibility of construction.
In this regard, Zhongxin Finance contacted the relevant person in charge of New Oriental. The other party said that it was temporarily unable to reply whether the compulsory course of Changping Bilingual School was completely closed in the autumn, but there are no enrollment places for the relevant grades this fall.
