After almost a month's hiatus due to Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and Western sanctions against Russia, the Moscow Stock Exchange resumes trading.

This Thursday, however, not all shares are to be traded, but only the papers of 33 companies.

These include shares in gas monopoly Gazprom, oil company Lukoil and state-owned airline Aeroflot.

According to the state agency TASS, the central bank announced this on Wednesday.

Short selling is therefore prohibited.

Initially, a shortened trading day is planned from 9:50 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time, which corresponds to 7:50 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CET.

Trading was halted when Russia's main stock index, RTS, fell sharply shortly after the Russian attack on Ukraine on February 24.

Russian government bonds have been trading again since March 21st.
