  According to the introduction of the preparation team, manganese ore in my country is mostly lean ore with an average ore grade of about 12%, and the production of 1 ton of metal manganese produces 8 to 10 tons of manganese slag.

Up to now, the cumulative stock of manganese slag in the country has exceeded 100 million tons.

Manganese slag contains a large amount of soluble salt compounds with complex components, and the improper disposal can easily cause great environmental risks.

At present, manganese slag in my country is mainly disposed of by landfill, which occupies a large amount of land and has high disposal costs.

  Located in the junction of Guizhou, Hunan and Chongqing, Songtao County in Guizhou Province, Huayuan County in Hunan Province, and Xiushan County in Chongqing City are connected to the area with the most concentrated manganese reserves in my country, known as the "manganese triangle".

In the past few years, hundreds of enterprises of various scales have been mining and producing here, forming countless piles of manganese slag and other industrial waste.

Some historical legacy-related heavy waste slag treatment progress is slow.

  According to the compilation team of "Technical Specifications", there are industrial-scale high-temperature treatment production lines of manganese slag in China, and the treated manganese slag is used as cement raw material to produce cement.

In this regard, the "Technical Specifications" clarifies the requirements for the leaching concentration of heavy metals in manganese slag, as well as the requirements for pollution control in the production process.

  In addition, manganese slag filling and backfilling will also pose risks to the ecological environment and human health. The "Technical Specifications" require that manganese slag must be treated before it can be landfilled. Before filling and backfilling, an environmental background investigation and an environmental risk assessment should be carried out.

After backfilling, land reclamation shall be implemented immediately in accordance with relevant regulations.
