With the lifting of restrictions linked to the coronavirus in almost all countries of the world, the French can once again think about planning their summer or Easter holidays abroad.

To help them in their choice, the World Tourism Fair is being held this weekend in Paris, Porte de Versailles.

The boom in "nature travel"

At the top of the destinations this year, we find the United States, which represents 20% of reservations for spring break among vacationers who go abroad.

But overall, the French are turning to medium-haul, that is to say European destinations.

We also find desires for the sun with Morocco and Tunisia, which are seeing their level of reservations slowly rise.

2022 should also mark the great return of the cruise, estimates Marianne Chandernagor, director of the World Tourism Fair.

“We see if we have to talk about the type of stay, that the cruise is starting to take on some color, but these are not yet the trends for 2019”, she analyzes, before specifying that “the health protocols are still a bit strict on cruise ships".

For her, what is going strong this year are "nature trips, reserved for the Southern European market, especially in Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal".

One region of the world is struggling, that is Asia.

Professionals also note a form of wait-and-see attitude on reservations this summer, between fear of a resumption of the pandemic or an aggravation of the conflict in Ukraine.
