"Raising pigs in high-rise buildings" has become a new favorite

, saving land and improving the level of large-scale pig farming. Guangzhou citizens' "vegetable basket" is more secure

The supply of pork is related to the safety of citizens' "vegetable baskets".

"Pig raising in high-rise buildings" has been extremely popular in recent years, which is a new phenomenon in the transformation and upgrading of Guangzhou's pig raising industry.

The reporter visited many modern pig farms in the city in the past few days and found that the pig industry in Guangzhou has also entered the "high-end" era, and "high-rise pig raising" is a new trend, which can not only improve the efficiency of land use, but also greatly increase the scale breeding level and reduce the risk of pigs being infected with diseases.

Not long ago, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issued the "Guangdong Province Live Pig Production Capacity Control Implementation Plan (Interim)", proposing that the self-sufficiency rate of Guangdong's live pigs will remain above 70% during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.

Relevant industry insiders said that this "high-rise pig breeding" model will be the general trend of the pig breeding industry in the future. , and Guangzhou's pig self-sufficiency rate will also increase to more than 70% in the next two years, to achieve high-quality development of Guangzhou's pig breeding industry, and to ensure that citizens eat pork with assured quality and stable prices.

Pork prices have continued to fall recently.

Wang Hansheng, president of the Pig Industry Association of Conghua District, Guangzhou, told reporters that the sharp drop in pork prices was mainly due to the increase in the number of live pigs sold.

With the price of pork bottoming out, many free-range farmers approached Wang Hansheng, hoping that he could help find a solution.

Wang Hansheng suggested that free-range farmers go to "sugar farmers" -- find those large-scale breeding enterprises, and sell their free-range pigs to them according to their breeding standards.

"Large-scale and green pig raising will be the general trend in the future." And the large-scale breeding enterprises "next to" these small pig farmers are all adopting a new way of raising pigs - raising pigs in high-rise buildings.

"Second Senior Brother" lives in the garden and goes upstairs and takes the elevator

Walking into the Nordic farm in Qigan Town, Conghua District, Guangzhou City, it is like entering a green garden. Several white 4-storey buildings are surrounded by rippling ponds and flowery orchards, and there is no smell of pigs at all.

If no one reminded me, it would be hard to think that these buildings turned out to be pig houses.

Ling Xiaode, a senior consultant of the farm, told reporters that this modern pig farm covering an area of 1,000 mu will be completed in 2021. At present, the annual output of live pigs has reached 50,000, and it can be expanded to 100,000 after reaching production. Among the land area, Guangguoyuan occupies 700 mu.

Different from the traditional way of raising pigs, the pigs on the Nordic farms are all raised in these high-rise buildings, and elevators are required to go up and down the stairs.

In order to prevent and control African swine fever, all outsiders are not allowed to enter the pig farm.

All pig farms are equipped with video surveillance systems, and the condition of each pig house can be clearly seen in the hall.

"How much feed pigs eat every day and when they eat can be accurately calculated and controlled by the computer. Through big data, we can not only save feed, but also judge whether the pig is sick by the amount of food eaten."

Speaking of this "garden pig farm", Ling Xiaode introduced that the pig farm has a total investment of 250 million yuan and a pig house area of 86,000 square meters. It is a key project of the "vegetable basket" project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Put into operation.

The pig farm adopts the integrated ecological breeding model of "self-breeding and self-raising". The whole process of "breeding - calving - fattening - slaughtering" is independently completed by the enterprise, and has 1 breeding (boar) house and 2 sow houses. Building, 7 fattening houses and 1 reserve pig house.

At present, there are about 5,000 sows, 130 boars, and 40,000 piglets (meat) in stock. In 2021, 13,000 pigs have been released, and it is expected that 85,000 pigs will be released in 2022, and the annual output after reaching production is about 100,000.

The pig industry on the 17th floor of the pig house has entered a "high-end"

Ling Xiaode has been engaged in the pig industry for more than 30 years. In his opinion, the pig industry has now become a capital-intensive industry, and the pig industry in Guangzhou has also entered the "high-end" era.

He said that "raising pigs in high-rise buildings" has three major benefits. First, it saves land.

At present, the pig buildings used in the industry are generally 2 to 4 floors, and there are also 5 to 6 floors, and the highest has reached 17 floors.

According to the past bungalow pig breeding model, a pig farm with a scale of 10,000 pigs needs an area of about 300 mu; today, a pig farm with a scale of 100,000 pigs has an area of only 300 acres through the high-rise model, and the land is intensive. The utilization efficiency has been improved by 10 times.

Second, prevent diseases such as African swine fever as much as possible.

He said that if pigs live on the ground for a long time, the virus can spread easily.

By raising pigs in high-rise buildings, each floor adopts an independent fresh air system, and all pig houses are separated from each other, which can effectively prevent African swine fever.

Third, modern farming techniques can be used on a large scale to reduce labor.

The pig farm adopts modern information technology to implement comprehensive and refined management of pig breeding and feeding.

In terms of pig feeding, through intelligent environmental control, intelligent management and other systems, it provides pigs with an excellent growth environment, allowing pigs to take less injections and medicines, reduce or even eliminate the occurrence of zoonotic diseases, and ensure the quality of the whole process of pig breeding. Stability and efficiency improvement.

In addition, in accordance with the development concept of circular economy, the harmless treatment of pig manure is carried out to realize the resource utilization of manure.

According to reports, the annual output of the pig farm is about 10,000 tons of manure, and the mode of microbial deodorization + dry manure removal + sewage fermentation recycling water (zero discharge) is adopted. In the surrounding farmland soil improvement, about 7,000 mu of farmland has been improved.

Integrated innovation to improve efficiency and realize the utilization of manure resources

In the Nordic pig farm, the reporter also met Wang Bo from the Guangzhou Animal Health Supervision Institute who came to conduct daily inspections.

"In the past year, a number of high-rise pig raising projects have emerged in Guangzhou, and high-rise pig raising technology is very mature. This mode of intensive land use is also the general trend of the pig raising industry in the future." Wang Bo said.

The reporter then visited a number of pig farms in Guangzhou that adopted "high-rise pig raising" and found that, as Wang Bo said, many pig farms had already tasted the sweetness and invited the "Second Senior Brother" upstairs one after another.

The Guangzhou Jinnong Modern Ecological Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Integrated Industrial Base located in Zengcheng has also tried the "high-rise pig raising" model two years ago.

The reporter saw at the pig breeding base that many pigs live in several brand-new buildings about 10 stories high.

The whole pig farm is clean and tidy, the birds are singing and the flowers are fragrant, and it looks like a garden pasture.

According to Meng Xiaoyun, general manager of Guangzhou Jinnong Modern Agriculture Co., Ltd., the base currently has 7,000 sows and a total of 70,000 live pigs.

It will be 100% put into operation in July 2022, with a total investment of more than 1.3 billion yuan.

By then, 300,000 live pigs are expected to be slaughtered every year.

On December 28, 2021, the capping ceremony of the three-dimensional whole industry chain pig breeding project in Nansha jointly invested by Yangxiang Fengxing Food, Yuexiu Group and Nansha Modern Agriculture Group was held in Nansha, Guangzhou.

The project covers only 140 acres of land, with an investment of 1.6 billion yuan. The 17-story high-rise building can produce 350,000 live pigs annually.

The project is currently the pig industry project with the highest floor and the largest monomer scale in Guangdong Province, and is still in full swing.

According to Quan Lin'an, chairman of Yangxiang Fengxing Food Co., Ltd., "raising pigs in high-rise buildings" is of great significance to the transformation, upgrading and high-quality development of the entire pig industry chain in Guangzhou and even Guangdong Province.

Not just a change in barn height, but a series of innovative integrations.

According to reports, there will be at least three innovations in the three-dimensional whole-industry-chain pig breeding project in Nansha.

First, hardware innovation, the 17-story high-rise building not only achieves efficient use of land, but also achieves environmental harmony through leading environmental protection technologies; second, epidemic prevention innovation, the unique iron barrel anti-africa mode is used in this building, achieving "P4 pig farms". Third, management innovation, the farm will achieve closed-loop breeding, eliminate the risk of introduction, and carry out high-tech management through intelligent equipment.

In the pig farm, 12,000 sows can be raised on 13 floors, with about 1,000 sows on each floor, with physical isolation between floors.

It will only take 5~6 people to manage 1000 sows, which saves half of the manpower compared to ordinary pig farms.

Not only Guangzhou, but many surrounding pig farms supplying pigs to Guangzhou have also adopted this model.

There are more than ten ponds in the Green Lake Farm Farming Base in Zhaiwu Town, Heshan City, Jiangmen. There are fruit trees and gardens around the pond, which looks like a botanical garden.

In the past few years, the base has produced more than 100,000 live pigs every year.

"Pig raising in high-rise buildings" not only brings about an increase in the efficiency of raising pigs, but also an "environmental revolution".

Near the pig house of Green Lake Farm, a huge biogas digester stands out.

Lu Liming, general manager of Heshan Green Lake Bio-Energy Co., Ltd., said: "These buildings are equipment for the recycling of organic wastes. We separate the pig manure from the farm from wet and dry, and then make biogas to generate electricity. At present, every day About 300 tons of manure is treated, and the electricity generated is purchased by China Southern Power Grid. After full-load operation, it can generate 10 million kilowatt-hours of electricity every year.”

Supply will be more secure, citizens can eat pork with more confidence

Luo Yixin, director of the Animal Husbandry and Feed Management Department of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said that since 2020, Guangdong Province has built, renovated and expanded 1,172 large-scale pig farms, and 822 of them have been completed, including 158 "building pig farms".

Wang Hansheng, who has been in the pig industry for 40 years, told reporters that in December 2019, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issued the "Notice on Issues Concerning the Management of Facility Agricultural Land", which clearly mentioned that "breeding facilities are allowed to build multi-storey buildings".

It was after the release of this document that the "high-rise pig raising" project in Guangdong's pig industry has sprung up like mushrooms after a rain.

Wang Hansheng said that this model can greatly improve the efficiency of large-scale pig breeding in Guangzhou and achieve high-quality development of the pig breeding industry.

"Of course, the most direct benefit is that citizens can eat pork with assured quality and stable prices, because the supply of pork will be more guaranteed in the future," he said.
