Domestic shipments of digital home appliances such as TVs and recorders fell by nearly 10% in February, a reaction to last year's sharp increase in demand for nesting.

According to JEITA = Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, which is made by electrical equipment manufacturers, the domestic shipment value of digital home appliances in February was 98.4 billion yen, a decrease of 9.8% from February last year.

Last year, due to the influence of the new corona, the demand for nesting was high, and the domestic shipment value increased by more than 14%.

By product, “video equipment” such as TVs and recorders decreased by 16.2%.

However, the number of TV shipments continues to be at a high level due to the progress of replacement of products purchased during the complete digitization of terrestrial television broadcasting 10 years ago.

Sales of "automobile-related equipment" such as car navigation systems decreased by 5.8% due to the continued reduction in automobile production.

Regarding future outlook, JEITA said, "Demand for home appliances is expected to increase toward the new fiscal year as priority measures such as prevention of spread are lifted. On the other hand, the situation in Ukraine and the earthquake in the Tohoku region are expected to produce home appliances. We are paying close attention to the impact on the market. "
