Shizuoka's representative souvenir "eel pie" will be raised by about 10% from April.

The reason is that the high price of wheat is expected to continue due to the influence of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"Unagi pie" made by the confectionery maker "Shunkado" headquartered in Hamamatsu City is a popular souvenir representing Shizuoka, and about 80 million bottles were sold in 2019 without the influence of the new corona.

However, according to the manufacturer, the purchase price of wheat, which is the main ingredient of "eel pie," has already risen by about 10% compared to 2015, when the price was raised last time.

Also, the prices of sugar, dairy products, and packaging materials are rising.

Manufacturers have decided to raise the price of "eel pie" from April 1st, saying that the purchase price of wheat is expected to continue to be high due to the influence of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The price increase is about 10%, and the price increase of 962 yen including tax for the main product "12 bottles per box" will be 1058 yen.

Manufacturers say that it is difficult to cover all of the increase in raw material prices even if they decide to raise prices, and they would like to reduce costs by reducing the number of factory operation days and food loss.
