The General Budget Committee discusses the developments of the Federation’s general budget for the fiscal year 2022

His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, chaired the sixth meeting of the General Budget Committee of the Union, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Financial Affairs Mohammed bin Hadi Al Husseini, and Governor of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates Khalid Mohammed Salem Al Tamimi, along with representatives from the Ministry of Finance.

The agenda of the committee meeting included a discussion of developments in the implementation of the general budget of the Federation for the fiscal year 2022 within the budget cycle 2022-2026 in light of the developments and measures taken by the Ministry of Finance to update the draft general budget of the Federation in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Decree-Law on Public Finance and related decisions and recommendations. The committee reviewed the requirements of some federal government programs and directed what was needed in their regard.

The meeting also discussed a number of topics, the most important of which are: the results of the federal government’s cash flows for the fiscal year 2021 that are available for the first months of the current fiscal year 2022 and estimates for the coming months, in which the collection indicators showed an improvement over the previous fiscal year, while the committee directed the Ministry of Finance to complete the necessary procedures to prepare Draft the general budget of the Federation for the year 2023 in accordance with the approved strategic programs and objectives and to achieve the vision of the United Arab Emirates for the next fifty years.
